From June 27, 2013 to July 7th, 2013 we were in our favorite fishing spot, Manzanillo, Colima.  Even though there was a storm off the Pacific Coast we still had an excellent time fishing. We surf fished and did some off shore fishing.

Here my son Eli catches a Dorado

The Bonita were biting like crazy

We caught a small sail fish that we released to fight another day

We surf fished in a few different locations. They were in Las Brisas, La Termo, and in one of my favorite places Tepalcates.  We fished with Ranger Lures Red/White, Orange, Chartues, Tsunami Poppers and SPRO Buck tails with a 6" tail they all varied from 2-4 oz.  My surf rod is 3pc 12' Shimano Surf Beast (great for traveling). The reel is an Okuma Avenger ABF90.  I used 50LB yellow Power Pro Braided main line with 30LB mono leader.

I was able to land a good size Robalo (Snook).  I caught it on a 2 oz. SPRO red/white buck tail with a 6" white Gulp saltwater soft plastic tail. It took my about 20 minutes to bring it ashore. It gave me a real good fight.

And of course a nice size Jurel (Jack Trevally) got away. I was on the jetty about half way when I landed the Jack. At first I didn't know what I had landed once I saw it the Jack was getting too close to the rocks the waves were crashing hard against the jetty. I figured I would go to the shore but as I was going towards shore the Jack got really close to the rocks and the line was cut by the rocks the Jack was gone.

All in all we had a great time. I'm hoping we can go back soon. We are still after the Rooster fish and of course the Jack that got away.
